The flight is in a tandem two seat glider with an instructor. The launch is behind a tow plane usually to 2000'. The instructor will release from the tow plane and guide the glider around the sky demonstrating lookout and the flight controls. You will be encouraged to "have a go" if you wish. A typical flight time is fifteen to thirty minutes depending upon the weather.

Very similar to the single flight lesson. The launch is to 5,000' above Airfield level - more than a mile above mean sea level. A typical flight lasts thirty minutes to an hour depending upon the weather. This permits much more time at the controls if you wish.

The short course consists of two flights similar to the single lesson.

Further handling techniques will be demonstrated . The student pilot will be encouraged to develop their skill, controlling the glider in flight.

The student pilot should become confident in handling the glider in flight . Depending on the progress made, some appreciation of the handling of the aero-tow, the circuit and landing may be achieved

Every year we endeavour to run at least one week holiday course during the summer. Check our calendar for currently allocated dates.
No previous experience is necessary, however if you have flown before we will adapt your course accordingly. In addition to ground and flight training you will participate in helping to launch gliders and handling them on the ground. This both enhances your involvement and keeps costs to a minimun.

There is an entrance fee of £80.00 to cover the cost of the first flight and three months membership. All subsequent flights are charged at club rates, or you can pre-pay for a block of flights. A typical budget for a week based on ten flights and five hours glider hire would be around £440. To stay B&B in the area for five nights costs from £200. You should book this directly with your host.
